What skills and experience we're looking for

Plympton Academy are currently looking to recruit an exceptional Head of Examinable PE who is committed to driving up standards and ensuring every child is challenged to achieve their maximum potential.

You will be joining an Academy that has a strong reputation for PE and Sports which boasts strong sporting facilities, to include a 3G pitch, Multi-Use Games Area & Activity Studio. With a dynamic and progressive curriculum at the heart of everything we do, we have exceptionally high levels of participation throughout the curriculum in a range of sports and activities alongside a very strong extra-curricular provision.

At KS4 and 5 the examination offer is highly regarded and consistently recruits high numbers of students who have successful outcomes. Currently we have 10 examination groups across two key stages who study Pearsons BTEC L2 and 3 Sports programme. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and forward-thinking practitioner who is looking to develop this already strong offer and lead both our students and staff to the next level.

  • Be a qualified Teacher of Physical Education and able to deliver up to Key Stage 5
  • Be passionate about teaching and learning and have a positive outlook and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good or Outstanding classroom practice with high expectations for achievements and behaviour
  • Be able to plan and deliver a creative and stimulating curriculum, both in the physical and digital classrooms
  • High expectations for yourself and the Students to ensure that every student achieve their very best
  • You will be dedicated to ensure that all of our children achieve their very best
  • An aspiring leader of learning and happy to grasp exciting CPD opportunities
  • Contribute to the values, ethos and the development of our schools
