What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a creative, experienced and highly effective leader who is an English & Media specialist to lead our dynamic, high performing and highly committed department who work tirelessly to improve the outcomes and literacy of our young people. Outcomes in English & Media are strong with good take up at KS4 & 5. The English & Media department also contains the EAL department who provide a full-time provision for students new to the country alongside withdrawal and in class support. All Y7 & 8 start their day with DEAR and there are a range of whole school literacy initiatives in place. Line management will form an essential part of this role.

The successful applicant will:

  • be an excellent and ambitious classroom teacher with a proven and demonstrable track record of success at GCSE and A Level preferably in both English & Media;
  • have sustained and substantial middle leadership experience or preferably some senior leadership experience;
  • have a good understanding of the current educational developments and educational data, especially those relating to literacy and EAL;
  • have the highest expectations of students;
  • have energy, stamina and a sense of humour.
