Head of Faculty: English job summary

Our aim at Heyford Park School is to provide the best possible education for all our students

At Heyford Park School, our mission is to provide the best possible education for all students in a nurturing and inclusive environment. We are proud to be a warm, welcoming all-through school with a strong sense of community. Our staff body is collaborative, supportive, and genuinely enjoy working together.

Heyford Park School is over-subscribed and growing to three form-entry in the secondary phase, supported by significant investment in new facilities and resources. We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and dynamic Head of Faculty: English to join our team at this exciting stage of development. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead a faculty within a growing school, with the flexibility to influence its structure and direction.

The successful candidate will lead English and line manage a small faculty team currently comprising staff across English, Performing Arts and MFL. At this stage of our development, the faculty model is intentionally flexible, and the subjects within the faculty will be agreed in discussion with the successful candidate. We are looking for a strong leader who can inspire, develop and support colleagues across subject areas; the ability to lead effectively is more important than expertise in all subjects within the faculty.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an existing middle leader or an aspirational teacher ready to take the next step. We are committed to leadership development and can offer strong professional support and career progression opportunities within the school and across the Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a school rated Good by Ofsted, and to join us at a dynamic point in our journey. As part of the EPA, our secondary phase benefits from close collaboration with Bartholomew School, an Outstanding school as of 2024. This partnership provides exceptional opportunities for collaboration, curriculum development and leadership support.

Located in the village of Upper Heyford, Heyford Park is easily accessible from Bicester, Banbury, and Oxford, serving the surrounding rural communities.

Please note that we advise applying promptly as we reserve the right to close and interview if sufficient suitable applications have been received.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to undertake and receive a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service check as well as attending safeguarding training as part of this role.
