Location: Bromley / Kent (hybrid working, with travel across Trust schools)
Salary: BR14 (£50,867 - £54,584 FTE)
Hours: 21.6 hours (3 days) 52 weeks per year, with some flexibility on working pattern
Start Date: September 2026 (or earlier by agreement)

About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious and capable Head of Finance to play a key role in leading the Trust’s financial operations, supporting a Trust of 10 primary schools with a combined budget of c.£30m+
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, compliance and operational finance across the Trust. You will ensure strong financial control and provide high-quality insight to support senior leaders and Trustees.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to step into, or further develop within, a senior leadership role with exposure to executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Trust’s finance function, ensuring high standards of financial management and compliance
- Oversee budget setting, forecasting and in-year financial monitoring across all schools
- Provide clear, insightful financial reporting to the CFO, senior leaders and Trustees
- Ensure robust financial controls, systems and processes are in place and operating effectively
- Support and deputise for the CFO where required
- Line manage and develop a high-performing finance team
- Drive consistency, efficiency and continuous improvement across financial processes
About You
We are looking for a motivated and proactive finance professional with:
- A recognised financial qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or significant relevant experience
- Experience in financial management, ideally within education or the public sector
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly
- Experience of leading or supporting a finance team
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach
This role would suit a strong Finance Manager or aspiring Head of Finance looking to step into a broader leadership role within a supportive and growing Trust.
