What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of French who will share our determination to transform the life chances of our pupils. Queensbridge School is an 11 - 16 comprehensive, friendly and oversubscribed all-ability school of 900 pupils.

French is part of our core curriculum offer at Key Stage 3 and is also a popular subject at GCSE which, over the past few years, has had outstanding outcomes for students.We seek a well-qualified and experienced teacher of French to lead the department. The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity of shaping the department according to their vision and harnessing the enthusiasm of pupils across all year groups. As Head of Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating all the work of their subject area.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Head of Department who:

  • Is infectiously enthusiastic about French with a real flair and passion to develop an engaging and innovative curriculum which will inspire and engage our students.
  • Has excellent subject knowledge and pedagogy in French.
  • Has excellent classroom management skills and a high expectation for all students based on a strong track record with examination groups.
  • Has the vision, drive and enthusiasm to have a significant impact on attainment and progress.

  • Has a desire to grow the department and further develop our offer to students.
  • Will actively contribute to the long term vision of the school.
