Head of Governance job summary
The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Head of Governance to join our dedicated team at The Dean Trust.
As the Head Governance, you'll be an experienced and enthusiastic governance professional at the heart of shaping the Trust governance strategy and driving essential governance improvements across the Trust. In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate closely with the Trust Board, CEO, senior leaders, governors and internal/external governance professionals, to ensure that the Trust has in place sound governance which will support our schools to flourish.
You will work alongside passionate and dedicated colleagues who are determined to provide the best quality education and support for every pupil and who are committed to maintaining our high standards. The successful candidate will also serve as the Trust Data Protection Officer, overseeing and supporting best practice for GDPR compliance.
We are looking for an individual who possesses:
● Secure knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance
● Good understanding of the nature and importance of partnership working and managing multiple stakeholders, with proven experience of doing so effectively
● Proven experience in governance, legal, or compliance leadership roles, ideally within education or the public sector
● Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, GDPR, and statutory compliance requirements
● Demonstrated ability to lead and manage governance functions effectively
● Strong understanding of the purpose, value and principles of governance
● Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and influence
● A proactive approach, shows initiative and takes pride in their role and the quality of their work
● A strong value of teamwork with the ability to support and contribute to the ethos and values of the Trust
