Wearelookingfortherightpersonforourschoolratherthanaspecificskills-set. Individualareasofresponsibilityforthepostwillbenegotiatedwithinthecontextof thewholeleadershipteam.However,thesuccessfulcandidatewillbecertainly expectedtobeabletocontributesignificantlyintheareasoutlinedbelow.
• Whole school Quality of Education, including the curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment, recording, reporting and timetabling.
• Supporting the review and implementations of the school priorities and development plan and to take sole responsibility for appropriately delegated aspects of it.
• Supportingallstaffinachievingtheprioritiesandtargetsthattheschoolsets.
• Lead effective school improvement initiatives with a particular focus onraising qualityofEducation.
• Providing all staff with the support and guidance needed to effectively drive school improvementandraiseeducationalstandards.

• Evaluaterigorouslyaspects oftheschool’swork.
• Ensurestructuresandsystemsareinplacetomaximisestudentpotential.

TeachingandLearning
TheHead of Lower Schoolwill;
• Implementstrategiestosecurethedevelopmentofoutstandingteaching, learning, achievement, behaviour and attendance throughout the school.
• SethighexpectationsandtargetstotheMonitoring,evaluationand development of the quality of teaching and children achievement.
• Benchmarkandtargetsetforcontinuousandsustainedimprovement.
• Is focused on high-quality teaching, delivered through a rich, creative, broad andbalancedcurriculum.
• Monitor, evaluate and review classroom and assessment practice and promote improvement strategies, challenging underperformance and ensuring corrective action.
• HaveexcellentknowledgeoftheNationalCurriculumandStatutoryAssessments.
• Have a full understanding of the Ofsted framework and other relevant legislation.
• Ensure that all policies related to Quality of Education are kept up to date andpertinentby themselves andtherelevant leaders.
LeadingandManagingStaffandStudentsandMembersofthe WiderSchool Community
TheHead of Lower School will;
• Lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop staff to carry out their rolestothehigheststandards.
• Ensure effective performance management through monitoring, evaluation, feedback and encouraging self-evaluation.
• Contributesignificantlytotheworkon studentprogressandachievement and maintain a high profile in ensuring standards of behaviour across the school.
• Promote effective communication and good relationships with students, staff, governors, parents and the wider community.
• Havelinemanagementresponsibilitiesforidentified faculties.
Todevelopandpresentfull,clearandaccurateaccountoftheschool’s
performance to a range of audiences including governors, parents and carers, Children andYoungPeople’sServices,OFSTED.Localcommunityand others. This includes providing information, advice and support to the Governing Body to enable them to meet their responsibilities for securing:

- Highstandardsofachievement
- Efficiencyandgoodvalueformoney
• To conduct performance management of members of staff and support the Headteacher to ensure that the requirements for performance management are fully in place.
• Demonstrate proven history of excellent class teaching and be able to model consistently high expectations.
• Buildacollaborativelearningcultureacrosstheschoolandactivelyengage with other schools to build effective learning communities and partnerships.
EfficientandEffectiveDeploymentofResources
Inlinewiththeschool’sdevelopmentplan,thehead of Lower School will;
• Set priorities for expenditure, allocate funds and ensure effective management and control of the budget for specific areas.
• Monitorandreviewresourcestoimprovethequalityofeducationand achievement,toensureefficiencyand value formoney.
• Ensurethatlowerschoolanditsresourcesareorganisedandmanagedto provide an efficient, effective and safe learning environment

• Bethe lower school’saccountableDesignatedSafeguardingLead
• Ensure a safe and supportive culture of vigilance is embedded throughout the school and safeguardingand childprotection is apriority for all
• To ensure that pupils feel safe and valued and that positive moral and ethical wellbeingispromoted.
• To make sure that all safeguardingprocesses, proceduresand policies are robust and followed by all staff.
• Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation and ensure all is shared with all DLSsandstaff.
• Substantial knowledge andeffectiveexperiencesof addressing EveryChild Matters(ECM)agenda and safeguardingissues.
• Ensure that all staff receive the appropriate induction, training and remain up-to-date and refreshed.
• Understand and keep up to date the Keeping Children Safe in Education and ensureallstafffulfiltheirrequirements
