What skills and experience we're looking for

To start from September 2024, we are looking for an exceptional Head of Mathematics who will inspire and motivate students in this high achieving state-funded day and boarding school for boys in the lower school and large mixed sixth Form.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding candidate to lead our Mathematics team and build upon the strong progress and outcomes already achieved at the school.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have high expectations and standards, and will create a buzz and excitement both within and beyond the confines of the classroom. They will need to demonstrate an ability to deliver outstanding academic results and exemplary classroom practice.

What the school offers its staff

The Mathematics results are very strong both at GCSE (typically 85-90% achieve grades 9-4 each year) and at A level (typically over 40% achieving grades A*/A each year). The uptake at A’ level is very high with 70 students completing A level Maths in 2023 and 7 completing A Level Further Mathematics. In addition, Core Mathematics is now offered at KS5.

The Mathematics Faculty is proud of the success of their students at both GCSE and A level, and of the many students who take their mathematical studies further at university. The successful candidate would be expected to teach Mathematics up to A level.

The School has a vibrant extra-curricular life, which includes sport, music, drama, outdoor activities, debating and public speaking. A willingness to contribute will be a clear advantage.

Commitment to safeguarding

Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Certificate is required for this post prior to commencement.
