Head of Mathematics job summary
An exciting opportunity is available to join our well‑established, fully staffed, and high‑performing Maths department. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Head of Maths who is eager to make a meaningful contribution to our college community. Our department is reflective, supportive and highly collaborative. We use research‑informed practice to guide our approach to teaching and learning, and we are committed to managing staff workload thoughtfully—particularly in relation to shared planning and marking expectations.
The successful candidate will provide clear leadership and strategic direction for Maths ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning across all key stages. Responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the Maths department effectively
- Developing an engaging and ambitious Maths curriculum
- Raising standards of attainment and progress for all students
- Using assessment and data to inform teaching and intervention
- Supporting, coaching and developing staff within the department
- Contributing positively to the wider life and leadership of the College
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an excellent Maths practitioner with strong subject knowledge
- Has the ability to lead, motivate and inspire staff and students
- Demonstrates high expectations and a commitment to continuous improvement Is organised, reflective and committed to professional development
- Is supportive of the Catholic ethos of the College (applications are welcome from candidates of all faiths and none)
