What skills and experience we're looking for

A unique career opportunity to head our Mathematics Department on a fixed term contract for Maternity Cover.

We are seeking to appoint a skilled and highly motivated professional to head our department to cover maternity leave from February – December 2026 in a supportive and team-orientated School graded as ‘Good’ in all categories (Ofsted March 2024).

The successful candidate will provide highly effective leadership and management of the Department to ensure continuous improvement. You will be someone with a passion for their subject and be able to deliver lessons that will inspire and engage our students, and who will actively assist in the further development of the subject within the School. You will join a committed, hardworking and friendly department who work closely together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students. Previous experience in a Head of Department role is desirable but applicants with at least one year’s experience in an Assistant Head of Department role will be considered.

Our Maths Department has grown in strength with the current team and we are looking for a passionate and driven individual with strong interpersonal and team working skills to contribute to the current teaching and learning strategies and develop their own teaching practice. Your challenge will be to teach good and interactive lessons, leading to high levels of student progress.
