Head of Maths job summary
The Head of Faculty is responsible for all aspects of the work of the curriculum area or areas which form their designated areas of responsibility. The core focus of the Head of Faculty's role is raising pupil achievement. Central to this is leading and guiding staff working within the designated curriculum area(s), and, in so doing, fostering an environment within which teaching and learning is the key priority with a desire for it to be of the highest possible quality and each member of the team is able to develop to the full the pupils in our care.

Northallerton School & Sixth Form College is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Mathematics to lead the faculty and help drive forward our vision for excellence.
The Role
As Head of Mathematics, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Mathematics department.
- Inspire and motivate staff and students, raising attainment and progress across all key stages.
- Lead on curriculum development, assessment, and innovative teaching and learning practices.
- Monitor performance data to secure continuous improvement and outstanding outcomes.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, high expectations, and achievement.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Ability to teach Mathematics across KS3 and KS4.
- Proven experience in successfully managing a department or a team.
- A track record of improving student outcomes.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Desirable
- Ability to teach Mathematics to KS5.
