Great Marlow School is a successful, highly regarded, and popular school. We are looking for an experienced teacher to lead the Music Department to further develop this department. The position is available to those who are already in a leadership and management position or someone who is looking to secure their first middle leader role in a school. Although the position would ideally be full time – the school will consider requests for part time employment. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated teacher to lead a successful and forward-thinking department and work collaboratively with other performing arts teachers across the school.

At Key Stage 3: All students study Music as part of their curriculum.

At Key Stage 4: Music is a GCSE option. Students study the Eduqas GCSE course.

At Key Stage 5: Music is an A level option. Students study the Eduqas A-level course.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to command respect in the classroom and inspire all students to realise their potential. Candidates should be confident in using effective strategies to motivate ALL learner groups and in promoting the enjoyment of music across all year groups. The Music Department is currently led by an excellent teacher who has secured a promotion. The school is looking to appoint a leader who can further develop the curriculum offered across all key stages, support the professional development of staff in the department and lead students in performance, both in school and the local community.

Great Marlow School is a large co-educational secondary school located in the town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The school has around 1,450 students aged 11-19, with over 200 attending the sixth form.

Founded in 1961, the school converted to academy status in 2011 and in the last six years has invested £9 million in developing the school facilities including a state of the art sports centre, sixth form centre and performing arts accommodation. The Redgrave Sports Centre was named after former pupil and Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, he opened in the centre in May 2013. The school and the sports centre are a 'hub' of the local community and host events and activities throughout the evenings, weekends and school holidays.
