In response to the career progression of the existing postholder, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and committed Head of Faculty to join and lead our Music Department. Offering an exciting opportunity for career development, we welcome applications from both experienced candidates and those looking to take the next step in their professional development. In addition to the job specification for teaching staff, the Head of Music will include the following responsibilities:

  • To manage and lead members of staff in the subject area(s), setting high professional standards.
  • To have an up-to-date knowledge of the subject area(s).
  • To develop faculty plans and targets which contribute to improvement.
  • To establish schemes of work for each year group.
  • To establish and maintain good discipline in the faculty.
  • To ensure the faculty area is well maintained and has suitable displays.
  • To budget efficiently.
  • To monitor teaching within the faculty.
  • To monitor pupil progress through the Academy’s assessment procedure and day to day marking.
  • To manage the day-to-day organisation of instrumental lessons.
