What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious and dynamic leader who is committed to ensuring every child is stretched and challenged to reach their full potential.

This vacancy would suit an outstanding, experienced teacher who is passionate about teaching and learning and is driven to ensure the best outcomes for all students.

We are proud of our students; their behaviour and attendance is excellent, and they want to learn and be successful.

Millfield is a school where teachers and leaders can flourish; hard work is recognised and rewarded.

We can offer you an induction programme. You will have access to high-quality CPL that is designed and delivered by colleagues who understand the school and our aims. We have a commitment to our teachers’ professional development in our vision to become a Dynamic Learning Community. You will have regular opportunities to collaborate with other colleagues in our successful Teaching and Learning sessions.

What the school offers its staff

Following the retirement of a long-standing female PE teacher, this exciting opportunity has arisen to work at our exceptional school and make a difference to our students’ lives.

Are you ready to step into middle leadership? Or are you an existing Head of Department who would love to come and work at Team Millfield? Would you relish the opportunity to work within and lead a dynamic team and contribute to our school’s success?

Millfield Science and Performing Arts College is a vastly oversubscribed and successful 11 to 16 school on a journey to outstanding. Our motto is to ‘Create Bright Futures’ for all our students and we have a commitment to staff wellbeing, workload and regular, high-quality CPL.

In 2020, we began the exciting step for our school to become a Dynamic Learning Community: where staff collaborate, use evidenced-based research and coaching to improve their teaching practice

Commitment to safeguarding

At Millfield, the welfare of the child is paramount. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff should understand their responsibility to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Attitudes towards promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people will be scrutinised during the selection process for the post that you have applied for.

We are a small, family school with around 850 students in roll. The school is hugely popular; some of our families have even moved to ensure they are in our catchment area, and we have been vastly oversubscribed for the last ten years. Behaviour at Millfield is excellent and there is a real belief in the Team Millfield ethos.
The school is proud to have won the Secondary School National Pupil Premium award in 2014 and in 2015 the Chief of Ofsted chose to visit us, the only secondary school in the North West, and said our students were ‘delightful’. In May 2017 Ofsted confirmed that we continue to be a ‘good’ school and leadership at Millfield remains ‘outstanding’. Our Progress 8 results in 2017 were the best on the Fylde Coast. With a new curriculum model planned for September 2019 we look to continue to ‘Create Bright Futures’ for all our students.
