What are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious colleague to lead our successful Physical Education Department. This area has historically been central to our extended curriculum, is well-regarded by students, and consistently achieves strong GCSE results.

As Head of Department, you will:

  • Inspire and lead a team of experienced teachers.
  • Model excellent practice and raise standards across the curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive improvement.

We particularly welcome applicants with a proven track record in curriculum development and raising standards.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Evidence of accelerating learning, coaching, improving teaching, and using data to inform interventions.
  • An outstanding teaching record.
  • Innovation and forward-thinking.
  • Understanding of quality assurance.
  • Commitment to ensuring every child’s progress in physical education and sport.
  • A drive to contribute to whole-school improvement.

This is a key leadership position requiring excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to share good practice. Applicants should consistently model high-quality teaching and leadership, keep student achievement at the forefront, and maintain high aspirations for staff and students. A proven record of delivering strong attainment and progress is essential.
