Salary: MPS - UPS - £32,916 - £51,048 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) + TLR2D allowance available for the right candidate

Working Pattern: This is a permanent position working 1.0 FTE, 39 weeks per year.

Are you an inspiring, dynamic, and forward-thinking PE specialist ready to lead a thriving department? We are seeking an exceptional Head of Physical Education to join our middle leadership team and drive an ambitious vision for sport, physical development and student wellbeing.

About the Role

As Head of PE, you will:

Lead a high-performing PE department with passion, expertise, and strategic direction. Shape a curriculum that excites, challenges, and supports students of all abilities. Champion a culture where physical activity, resilience, teamwork and healthy lifestyles are integral to school life. Oversee extracurricular sport, fixtures, teams, and whole-school health initiatives. Coach and develop staff, ensuring high-quality teaching and outstanding outcomes. Build strong community and club partnerships to enhance opportunities for all pupils.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Is an outstanding PE practitioner with a proven record of impact. Has experience leading or coordinating a team. Brings energy, vision, and creativity to the role. Is committed to inclusive sport and physical education. Values high expectations, strong relationships, and positive behaviour. Can inspire both students and colleagues through excellent communication and leadership.

The role requires the postholder to line manage the School Sports Coordinator role by overseeing programme delivery, supporting staff, and ensuring high-quality sporting opportunities for all students as part of the PE department’s strategic goals.
