Head of Performing Arts - Teacher of Drama job summary
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking and ambitious Head of Performing Arts. The Performing Arts department at EPCS comprises Drama, Dance and Music, and is made up of three teachers and a dedicated technician. The successful candidate will be a Drama specialist, but will also have a passion for expressive arts more broadly, and will be excited by the opportunities of leading a multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will have a sharp understanding of what quality-first planning and teaching looks like, the emotional intelligence required to coach and grow others, and an unswerving commitment to ensuring the very best possible outcomes for students. They will be dedicated to really bring the Performing Arts to life for students both within lessons and beyond them, through opportunities such as productions, clubs and competitions. The Performing Arts Department benefits from first class facilities and accommodation including an impressive theatre with up-to-date sound and lighting equipment, drama and dance studios, the latter of which has a sprung floor, two dedicated music teaching rooms and practice rooms.
The Head of Performing Arts role at Easthampstead Park is regarded as a senior curriculum leadership position, and as a result, comes with additional non-contact time for the Head of Performing Arts to undertake their leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to attend leadership meetings and work closely with Senior Leaders and fellow Curriculum Leaders on whole school curriculum leadership. In return for your passion, commitment and drive, we offer a highly supportive working environment, students who are keen to learn, and outstanding continued professional development opportunities, including access to the National Professional Qualification (NPQ) suite of training.
This is a very exciting time to join us. In recent years, we have made excellent progress, and at our last OFSTED inspection (November 2021), we were again rated as ‘Good’ in all areas.
“Pupils enjoy coming to their happy and inclusive school. There is a strong ethos of mutual respect, courtesy and care for others.”
“Pupils behave well in lessons and around school. They value the educational opportunities that they receive and want to succeed. Knowing their teachers have high expectations and want the very best for them encourages pupils to take pride in their work. Pupils confidently ask for help when they need it.”
We aspire to be rated ‘Outstanding’, driven by a core belief that all of our students deserve nothing but the best possible teaching and support in order to be happy, healthy and successful.
If you feel you have the necessary skills, mindset and determination to join us on our journey towards ‘outstanding,’ we would very much like to hear from you. Visits to the school prior to application are warmly welcomed.
