Head of Personal Development
Required for September 2025
TLR2A allowance, currently £3,391
We are seeking applications from dedicated and hardworking professionals with a desire to work in a successful, happy and well-resourced non-selective 11-16 Academy. The role will be to lead Personal Development from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 4.
The role will include:
- To lead and coordinate the PSHE curriculum
- To support teachers in delivering the PSHE curriculum effectively
- To take responsibility for assemblies across the Academy
- To plan and monitor the tutorial programme across the school
- To raise awareness of current affairs, modern British values, reading, wellbeing and the Academy’s core values to all Academy students and staff via tutor time, assemblies, staff forums, display boards, newsletters etc.
- To set and communicate the Academy theme of the week
- To support the provision and mapping of PSHE across the curriculum
- To coordinate interventions to address personal development needs of individuals and groups of students
We are looking for applicants who will strive to make a substantial difference to the lives of our students, our school and the wider community. The successful candidate must be experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated, with strong organisational skills, and ready to play a significant role as Head of Personal Development.
We are a mixed 11-16 non-selective converter academy with approximately 835 students. Uplands Academy converted to an Academy in September 2022 and became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formally Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the Trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership provides many exciting opportunities for professional development, and the sharing of good practice across the two schools.
We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for the students of Uplands Academy, and for the experienced, loyal, highly skilled and highly effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn.
