We are looking for an enthusiastic, determined and inspirational PE Teacher with specialisms in football, basketball, cricket and rugby to lead the PE Department at Saint Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to join #TEAMSPH as we continue on our journey.
You will be responsible for:
- To develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the academy’s commitment to high achievement through effective teaching and learning.
- To have an enthusiasm for the subject, which motivates and supports other staff and encourages a shared understanding of the contribution the subject can make to all aspects of pupils’ lives.
- To use relevant academy, local and national data to inform targets for development and further improvement for individuals and groups of pupils.

St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, Roman Catholic secondary school situated in the thriving town of Glossop, Derbyshire. It is part of the newly formed Catholic Multi Academy Trust; St Ralph Sherwin.
The school is has good commuter links to Stockport, Macclesfield and Manchester by car and rail.
A smaller than average secondary school, St Philip Howard currently has 480 pupils on roll and is growing rapidly. St Philip Howard is on a journey to outstanding and since the Academy opened in September 2015 has gone from strength to strength. The recent Inspections which took place in 2018 have confirmed this.
Ofsted inspected the Academy in January 2018. Inspectors acknowledged the hard work and commitment of the Senior Leadership Team, Staff and Governors.
