Head of Physics & Electronics job summary

Sir John Deane’s is the country’s leading sixth form college, and we are looking to appoint a full-time Head of Department (Physics & Electronics) to start in September 2025.

The Department

The department offer both Physics A level (OCR) and Electronics A level (Eduqas). With a strong identity and a culture of continuous improvement, colleagues are committed to drive student success. The department comprises of 4 teachers and a laboratory technician who are enthusiastic, motivated, and supportive.

The Physics and Electronics department are located on the first floor of College building with excellent teaching and learning facilities

The Post

This post is an ideal opportunity for a successful and ambitious individual looking to develop their leadership experience.

A Level experience is not an essential requirement; we are seeking to appoint an individual with a strong academic background in Physics who loves to teach, who has a passion for all aspects of the subject and who can demonstrate the ability to lead.

The person appointed must be willing to:

  • bring imaginative and varied approaches to their teaching;
  • work as a member of a team, sharing ideas and resources;
  • develop relationships with students based upon equality, respect, joy and high aspirations
