From September 2025 we have an opportunity to join our exceptional Science Department as a Head of Physics. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the capacity to lead, inspire and develop students and staff. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and a versatile team player.

About the department

The whole Science department achieves outstanding outcomes for its pupils and takes pride in being creative and dynamic in its teaching and enrichment. Pupils are taught separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics classes from Year 9, by a subject specialist. There is a strong up-take of Triple Science at GCSE Science. A-Level Sciences, including Physics, have a high take-up and achievement is promoted at all levels; every year a significant number of students secure places to study Sciences at university.

Uniquely the department works collaboratively to develop a rigorous Mastery in Science curriculum at Key Stage 3. They are at the national forefront of this type of curriculum development and receive regular visitors from science departments across the country looking to learn from their practice.

The department takes an active lead in the whole-school STEM programme, including CREST Awards. There is a weekly Science Club and we offer lots of enrichment opportunities to students of all ages, including workshops and talks in school, regular visits out to museums, zoos and other educational facilities e.g universities, as well as trips abroad.

About the School

Founded in 1791, The St Marylebone CE School is an outstanding comprehensive school for girls with a mixed sixth form, serving students of all faiths or no faith.
