What the school offers its staff
The Hemel Hempstead School is a popular and oversubscribed school on a beautiful site in Boxmoor. The school is close to local and national rail, bus and road links to London. We are an expanding school, with 217 students in each year group and over 250 students in the Sixth Form. Our facilities are excellent with world-class sporting facilities, a brand-new music, languages and science centre and plans for further improvements across the site. In September 2025 we will have a brand-new school building.
Further details about the role
The vision of the RE department is to produce philosophically enlightened students that are prepared for life in the modern world. The RE curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge they need as citizens of a multicultural country and to support those who study the subject at GCSE and A Level. The impact of our curriculum is reflected in student numbers and outcomes. In 2022 54% of students obtained an A*-B Grade in Philosophy at A Level. At GCSE 80% of students obtained Grade 9-4 in Religious Studies; 28% of students achieved Grade 7-9. It is common for us to have multiple GCSE classes and two A Level Philosophy classes.
