The Opportunity?
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, talented and inspiring Head of Religion not only will you be an excellent classroom practitioner you will have the ability to inspire, lead and develop our the team.
Following a College reorganisation, you will join a newly formed Humanities Team and will benefit from entering a new department who are keen to work collaboratively to promote and build on the Humanities department’s successful record. The team welcome forward-thinking initiatives and are able to offer a new colleague advice, support and professional development opportunities in a friendly, positive and creative environment.
The department is exceptionally well resourced with dedicated classrooms based around the library and modern IT projection equipment in every classroom.
At Key Stage 3 all students follow a programme of learning which splits the focus into the three main areas of study; One term students will study a philosophy followed by an ethics and finishing with beliefs every topic will be an inquiry based focus. (the order may vary depending on year group). AtKey Stage 4GCSE Philosophy, Beliefs and Ethics is an optional GCSE subject with consistent numbers of students. We follow the Edexcel RS full course (specification B). Students use the religions of Christianity and Islam to study ethical and philosophical units of; Peace and Conflict, Crime and Punishment, Marriage and Family and Matters of Life and Death. AtKey Stage 5we study the AQA Philosophy course, which covers a range of topics; such as moral philosophy, metaethics, epistemology, metaphysics of the mind and God.
