About us:
Oasis Academy Daventry Road is a brand new 11-16 co-educational academy that opened in south Bristol in September 2023. Having started with Year 7 only in 2023, we welcomed a second cohort in 2024 and a third in 2025 , which will grow year on year to reach a capacity of 900 young people.
Oasis Academy Daventry Road will deliver high quality teaching in an environment where every child is valued and supported to succeed. We will work to develop the character and competence of all young people, in pursuit of everyone receiving an exceptional education and reaching their full potential both in learning and in life.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for an exceptional teacher and leader to take on the role of Head of Religious Studies. You will:
- Lead and manage the Religious Studies department, maintaining high standards and continuity during the maternity leave period.
- Teach RE across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering deep understanding of worldviews, ethics, and belief systems.
- Contribute to the wider Humanities faculty, supporting interdisciplinary projects and shared planning.
- Engage in whole-school life and support the Academy’s inclusive, values-led culture.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong subject knowledge and experience teaching Religious Studies
- Can take on departmental leadership and maintain high expectations.
- Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a commitment to inclusive and reflective teaching.
- Can collaborate with Humanities colleagues and contribute to a cohesive faculty vision.
- Brings creativity, compassion, and professionalism to all aspects of school life.

OADR is a new 11- 16, six forms of entry [180 students per year group] secondary school in South Bristol. The school opened in September 2023 for year 7 students only, initially taking students in Year 7 only, growing year on year with an eventual capacity of 900 young people. OADR opened in temporary accommodation in September 2023 and will move to our permanent site on Daventry Road, in a new, state of the art building in due course.
We are an inclusive Academy, committed to delivering first class education and playing an active role in the local community. OADR is in close proximity to 3 Oasis Primary Academies (Connaught, Marksbury Road & New Oak) and 2 Oasis Secondary Academies (John Williams & Brislington) and as such will benefit directly from close working partnerships and a supportive network.
