What skills and experience we're looking for
As Head of School, you will be responsible for Teaching and
Learning within the school. We are
looking for the successful candidate to start in September 2023 or January
2024. Although this is a permanent
position, applications for a one year secondment will be considered.
Culmstock Primary is a wonderful community school, full of energetic and enthusiastic children who thrive with staff who nurture, care and plan for their learning step by step. At the last inspection in July 2022, the school was judged to be a ‘good’ school.
The School aims to develop children both academically and pastorally; to develop them as kind, resilient, independent citizens and motivated learners who love school and have an appetite for lifelong learning.
The Head of School will have responsibility for the organisation and monitoring of the curriculum and for maintaining high standards of staff and pupil conduct. The role will require collaboration within and beyond the Federation and a close working relationship with the Executive Headteacher, Federation Business Manager and the Federation SenCo is an essential part of the role. The role would suit a teacher who has had some leadership experience.

The Culm Valley Federation was formed on the 31st October 2011 to formalise an existing collaboration between Plymtree C of E Primary School, Culmstock Primary School and Kentisbeare C of E Primary School. Culmstock Primary school is situated in Culmstock village and welcomes children from Reception through to Year 6. We are a school of 127 children across 5 classes covering EYFS, KS1 and KS2. We believe that inspiring young people through learning and by giving them a sense of self-belief they will achieve their full potential. We aim to be a school with a passion for learning at its core, where every child in school is inspired to realise their full potential. A school which promotes healthy, happy and confident learners that are equipped to succeed in a changing world. A school that shares expertise and practises true collaboration so that collectively we are stronger together. We believe that children should live and learn in a happy, secure and stimulating environment. A school where they are valued as individuals, encouraged to grow in self-esteem and given the opportunities they deserve to reach their potential.
