Head of School job summary

We are looking for a leader who will embrace our inclusive and nurturing approach, supporting every child to reach their full potential while maintaining the high standards we are proud of. As a senior leader within Epworth Education Trust, the Head of School will work in close partnership with the Executive Headteacher and Local Advisory Board (LAB) to establish and implement the vision and strategic direction of the school. While the Executive Headteacher holds overall legal responsibility, the Head of School will play a key role in ensuring the school’s ethos and values are embedded in daily practice.

This is an opportunity to demonstrate inspirational leadership, creativity, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that Westleigh Methodist Primary continues to thrive as a place where every pupil and staff member can be the very best they can be.

If you are an aspiring or experienced school leader looking to make a real difference in a close-knit and supportive community, we would love to hear from you.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for an exceptional Head of School who is:

Passionate about inclusivity, ensuring all children, including those with SEND, feel valued, supported, and able to succeed.

Committed to high aspirations for every child, with exceptionally high standards of teaching, learning, and pastoral care.

Nurturing and compassionate, fostering a safe and supportive environment where children thrive emotionally and academically.

A strong advocate for restorative approaches, maintaining a calm and solution-focused leadership style.

Visible, approachable, and an active listener, building trusting relationships with children, staff, parents, and governors.

Inspirational and influential, leading by example with integrity, resilience, and a deep belief in the power of education.

A collaborative team player, working effectively with staff and the wider trust to drive continuous improvement.

Organised and adaptable, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills while managing competing priorities.

Supportive of the school’s Christian ethos, embedding its values into daily life while promoting a nurturing and inclusive environment.

In return our Trust and its school offer you:

A strong and supportive team with a clear strategic vision, working together to drive excellence.

Wonderful, unique children who are polite, hardworking, and eager to learn.

A dedicated and collaborative staff, committed to high expectations and supporting one another.

A well-resourced, safe, and stimulating learning environment that nurtures both pupils and staff.

Strong working partnerships within the Trust, fostering collaboration and shared expertise.

Excellent professional development opportunities to support career growth.

A range of staff benefits, including a pension scheme, wellbeing day, salary sacrifice schemes (tech & cycle), discount schemes, and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.

The support of a skilled and experienced Trust Central Team, providing guidance and resources.

An enthusiastic and engaged Governing Body, invested in the success of the school.

The opportunity to make a real difference in a nurturing and inclusive school community.
