What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you want to make a difference?
We seek to appoint a talented and ambitious teacher to lead our Science department. The successful candidate will need to have experience of departmental or faculty management and a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes for students. The Science department teaches biology, chemistry and physics at both KS3 and KS4 and is well-resourced. The team is made up of 9 Science teachers and two technicians.
Staff at Springwest Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing great practice and by taking a team approach with a focus on togetherness. We take staff development very seriously and are a kind, caring and inclusive school offering a variety of staff benefits including no after school meetings, a centralised detention system run by SLT, travel loans, a cycle to work scheme and an early finish on a Friday.

- is passionate about and committed to enabling all students to fulfill their potential regardless of their starting point
- has a clear understanding of how students learn
- will lead by example and support students to achieve the best of their ability
- has expertise in planning the progression of subject skills within individual and across sequences of lessons
- has a proven track record of great Science teaching that secures excellent outcomes for students
- has knowledge and understanding of the subject requirements for Science
- can lead and manage the development of appropriate syllabi, resources, schemes of work, and teaching and learning strategies
- Is kind
- has qualified teacher status.
