What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Qualified Teacher Status / Degree relevant to the subject

  • Proven track record of outstanding Science teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Proven ability to teach Physics or Biology at KS4 and 5
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum requirements in Science
  • Awareness of current developments in Science
  • Proven track record of outstanding student outcomes
  • Proven track record of strong and effective behaviour management strategies
  • Excellent ICT skills
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision and direction for the department

  • Proven success in strategic curriculum planning
  • Experience of effectively using data to analyse student progress and secure improved outcomes
  • Experience of effectively coaching others to improve their practice
  • Ability to lead a team and motivate others who are part of that team to reach the highest of standards
  • Strong ability to work effectively under pressure and show resilience
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Prior experience of leadership in Science and/or of leading successful improvement projects

The person appointed will have a clear vision of what an outstanding Science provision will look like and have the skills to lead in this area.

We are seeking to appoint a strong leader who is passionate about learning; a team player who will thrive on collaboration and team work; someone who really wants to make a difference!

We have fantastic facilities in a recently built Science block, that any school would be proud of. We offer trilogy and triple science qualifications at GCSE and Biology, Chemistry and Physics are all popular at A level.

We have a thriving House system, with two forms from each year group making up one of our four Houses. This system epitomises the caring, community ethos, and encourages a little healthy competition too!

Our Facilities

Ensuring that our staff and students can thrive in a positive learning environment is one of our key priorities. Each learning area is well-equipped with the specialist resources that individual subjects require.

Significant investment has been made in the site in recent years which means that we are the proud owners of a state of the art Science Learning Centre, a multi-use Sports Centre and a 4G all-weather pitch. In addition to this we have our own Masque theatre.

We continue to invest and innovate to improve the learning environment for all. The Latimer Arts College provides an excellent environment to both teach and learn in.
