Thornhill Academy, part of Consilium Academies, is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Science to lead our dynamic and forward-thinking department.
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated practitioner to lead the delivery of a high-quality science curriculum, inspire a love of learning, and improve outcomes for all students. About the Role
As Head of Science, you will lead the strategic and operational development of the Science Department. You will have the ability to inspire both students and staff, lead on curriculum development, and use assessment data effectively to inform teaching and raise achievement. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a clear understanding of how to drive standards and outcomes across the department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the science curriculum and departmental team.
- Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all science disciplines.
- Using assessment data to monitor and improve student progress.
- Supporting and developing teaching staff through coaching and CPD.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school and promoting a culture of success.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds QTS and a relevant degree-level qualification.
- Has experience teaching science across Key Stage 3 and 4, with strong outcomes.
- Can demonstrate leadership experience and a clear impact on teaching and learning.
- Has the vision and commitment to raise achievement across the department.
- Is enthusiastic, innovative, and able to lead a team with clarity and purpose.
