We offer an exciting opportunity to lead a team of 10 teachers and 3 technicians across and age range of 11-18. You will have leadership experience, be determined and driven and have the ability to transform student’s lives. You will work alongside a fantastic team to continue to achieve the highest possible outcomes for students irrespective of their backgrounds or starting points.
The role of Head of Science at Outwood Academy Adwick would be ideal for either an experienced Head of Department or someone looking to make that next step. You will be supported extensively by a team of Science Directors allowing you to strategically lead the department, whilst having the support and advice from the Director team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to lead a progressive department and be pivotal in shaping their journey to world class. You will be supported within the department by a Lead Teacher, a 2nd in Science and Physics TLR holder.
The department has made huge strides, whereby they achieved record results in 2018-19 with a Science progress score of +0.12. Attainment at 44+ and 55+ rose by over 20% from the previous year and above the national average for both measures, whilst our Separate Science students achieved 100% 444+ and 95% 555+, again the highest results in the Academy’s history. Furthermore our Post-16 numbers have seen record numbers within our A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics options and Vocational courses (BTEC Forensics Science, BTEC Applied Human Biology and WJEC Medical Science). Exciting in 2023 we will embark on a T-Level route in Heath. We are looking forward to the opportunity in developing this pathway for our students.
