Head of Science job summary

We are seeking a Head of Science to join us from January for a new chapter in Reepham High School and College history, following an extensive restructure, which is now complete. The restructure has enabled us to bolster our support staff, so as to ensure that our teachers and Heads of Department can focus on the curriculum and teaching & learning.

Reepham High School and College is located 14 miles North-West of Norwich and our intake is broadly in line with the national average in terms of prior attainment, which is reflected in our most recent GCSE results. However, we want our GCSE outcomes to match our A-level outcomes that see us consistently in the top 10% of the country and this is something we are working hard to achieve. Therefore, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how they have improved outcomes in their own setting.

The successful candidate will join a supportive school community that has an ambition to improve the educational outcomes and school experience for all our students and a department that will be fully behind them. They will also enjoy a reduced timetable for the remainder of the academic year to provide them with time to plan and begin to embed any changes they feel necessary.

As a school we value subject knowledge and have fully embraced a Rosenshine approach to teaching and learning. We hold high expectations of our students in both their conduct and what they can achieve and value strong working relationships between teachers and students.

Reepham enjoys good quality bespoke Science classrooms and healthy numbers in all the Sciences at A-level.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject and pedagogical knowledge as well as strong interpersonal skills and most importantly be a team player. Ideally, they would also be able to demonstrate some existing curriculum leadership as they will be leading a large team of teachers and technicians.
