At Gloucester Academy, part of theGreenshaw Learning Trust, we are seeking a passionate and strategic Head of Science to lead our dedicated department from September 2026.

This opportunity would suit an existing Head of Faculty or an ambitious Second in Science, Lead Practitioner or Head of Subject Ready to take the next step.

About the role:

As Head of Science, you will provide clear leadership across Key Stages 3 and 4, driving high standards of teaching, learning and achievement. You will lead a committed team of seven teachers, a Science technician and an HLTA, shaping a curriculum that is ambitious, research informed and carefully sequenced from KS3 through to AQA Combined Science at KS4.

You will monitor and analyse student performance, implement effective intervention strategies and ensure consistently strong assessment and feedback. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will model excellent classroom practice and contribute to the wider life of the school.

With new laboratories being developed and a strong culture of professional growth, this is an exciting time to lead Science at Gloucester Academy.
