Head of Science job summary
We are seeking to appoint an excellent Head of Science who will lead and manage a thriving department of specialist and highly experienced practitioners. The existing department includes a Head of Department who is a recognised SLE, two experienced seconds in Department and two key stage pastoral leads thereby demonstrating our commitment to professional development within the school. This post arises due to the retirement of the existing Head of Department.
The Department has recently extensively reviewed its curriculum and has high academic standards for all students. Collectively, all staff are ambitious for everyone they teach and have a strong focus upon teaching and learning across all key stages, including the sixth form in which all three strands are taught to A Level standard as part of the Trinity Sixth Form. Also, of note is the thriving STEM work that is carried out across the Department and the enthusiasm shared by the students.
The successful candidate will join a highly ambitious and dynamic department of specialist scientists which currently achieves high standards as a result of exceptional teamwork and dedication. The newly appointed Head of Department will need to demonstrate their own passion and enthusiasm for Science at all key stages as well as demonstrate curriculum leadership aptitude and qualities.
The Academy is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions.
Potential candidates are welcome to visit the school by appointment. Please see our recruitment pack for further details.
