This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the other three High Schools in the MAT – Bury C of E High School, Canon Slade School and Bolton St Catherine’s Academy: sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.

Main Duties:

  • To provide professional leadership and management for the Social Science Department (sociology/health & social care)
  • To be a role model to members of the department, demonstrating excellent teaching and learning in their own practice and providing innovative curriculum thinking to drive the curriculum forward in all linked subjects
  • To raise standards across the subject in Teaching and Learning and Curriculum leading to better outcomes for all.
  • Where appropriate support with delivery and enrichment within PSHEE.


The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Is a great team player, friendly and professional
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff
  • Will quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues
  • Will enthuse and motivate colleagues and students to work hard and try their best
  • Has previous experience of working with children aged 11 -16 in an education setting
  • Demonstrates personal resilience and role models those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people.
  • Has the ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role
