Head of Sociology and Politics job summary
We are seeking a forward-thinking and highly motivated individual to lead our Sociology and Politics department. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to shape the vision, curriculum, and academic success of these subjects within the school.
About the Role:
As Head of Sociology and Politics, you will lead a committed team, oversee curriculum planning and delivery, and play a key role in supporting student achievement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of both subjects, excellent classroom practice, and the ability to inspire staff and students alike.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Sociology and Politics department effectively

Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment

Drive academic progress and outcomes across both subjects

Develop innovative and inclusive schemes of work

Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning
The Ideal Candidate Will:

Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record in teaching Sociology and/or Politics

Have experience of curriculum leadership or a readiness to take the next step in their career

Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills

Be committed to student success and passionate about raising achievement
