What the school offers its staff

Herne Bay High School is a large hugely successful Single Academy Trust that serves the Herne Bay coastal area of North Kent. We have a comprehensive intake and are significantly oversubscribed in all year groups and in June 2022 Ofsted rated the school good with an Outstanding 6th form provision.

Whilst academic rigour and examination success is at the forefront of our development, we believe that a broad, balanced approach to education is important and as such we place great emphasis on the Creative and Performing Arts and Sport as a cornerstone of a young person’s educational journey. Herne Bay High School is also a champion of collaborative practice, with current memberships to the East Kent Learning Alliance (EKLA), East Kent Schools Together Network (EKST), and the Coastal Alliance Co-Operative Trust (CACOT).

Due to continual growth, we are looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated staff, who love working with young people and can add to our already excellent workforce.

All staff joining HBHS will benefit from

  • High quality personalised professional development
  • Fantastic career opportunities
  • Full programme of induction and support
  • Being part of a school that values it employees

Herne Bay High is a highly successful, innovative school that prides itself on its culture of high expectations and traditional values, particularly relating to respect, discipline and behaviour. We are passionate about supporting every child to achieve their full academic potential, whilst developing our students into responsible, mature and confident young people.
The curriculum will be the principal means whereby students’ entitlement to a broad and relevant education can be fulfilled. Statutory requirements , including those relating to the National Curriculum, will be observed and implemented; the School will strive to provide all our students with a challenging and engaging educational experience tailored to their abilities and interests at KS3 and a personalised KS4 and sixth form experience. Our focus is to equip our students with the requisite skills and knowledge to flourish in our rapidly changing world.
The School is not only an educational community of adults and young people but also an important part of the local community. The awareness of students to both of these features will be encouraged; the ethos of the School will be directed to this end.
Herne Bay High will strive for excellence and high quality provision in all aspects of the curriculum, students learning, progress and development. Young people need to complete their period of schooling with high self-esteem, confidence, wider horizons and a range of appropriate qualifications, skills and personal attributes.
Little of this can be achieved by students without hard work, the desire to learn, enjoyment, care for one another and creative, co-operative endeavour; this the School aims to achieve with all members of the School community.
Our School Message
No action of mine should cause hurt or unhappiness to any other member of our school community.
I will try my best to treat everyone and everything with consideration and respect.
I will remember that every public action of mine outside school is judged to the credit or discredit of the whole school community.
There may be times when I fail to live up to these standards. When this happens I will be honest with myself and with others, admitting my mistakes and doing all in my power to put things right.
This school aims to concentrate on the success and achievement of individuals and not on their failure.
PRIDE is a key word in the community of Herne Bay High School - we all have a part to play in achieving a successful and happy school.
