Head of Year job summary

We are seeking an exceptional individual who is passionate about ensuring students have the best possible school experience and receive the support they need to thrive. At STFS, we believe every student deserves success, and we are committed to knowing our students well so we can support them effectively throughout their time with us.

In this role, you will work closely with a dedicated year group, providing consistent guidance and support. You’ll be backed by the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour, Culture, and Safeguarding, as well as a pastoral assistant. We are committed to your professional growth, offering training opportunities to help you develop and excel in the role.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in English, Maths, Art, and Computing. Additionally, we are currently recruiting for a Teacher of Maths and a Teacher of Art & Photography.

The ideal candidate will be able to foster a positive ethos, uphold high expectations, and provide targeted support to students who need it most. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will engage regularly with students, families, and colleagues. You will model outstanding classroom practice and play a key role in guiding and supporting your year group tutors.

Sir Thomas Fremantle is set in North Buckinghamshire for 11-16 year olds serving the local community. The school is in easy reach of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. We benefit from great facilities – the school building was only opened in 2017.

We are driven to ensure all our students have an incredible education that inspires and prepares them for the next step in their journey. With 650 students we are able to really get to know each of them and our sense of community is a real strength of our school.

Your professional development is really important to us. We want you to have the skills and training so you can flourish in your role. We care about your wellbeing and we want to work with you to ensure we do all we can to support you.

We would love to show you around our school to meet our wonderful students and to get to know us better.
