Head of Year and Teacher of Spanish job summary
Kirkby High School wish to appoint a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and energetic teacher of Spanish with responsibility for a year group within our pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a middle leadership role in a supportive environment.
Main responsibilities include:
• Raising standards of student attainment and achievement within the year group and to monitor and support student progress
• Accountability for student progress and development within the year group
• Developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others
• Accountability for leading, managing and developing the year group
• Effectively managing and deploying the pastoral support team
• Effectively engage students and their parents/carers in their learning

Our last Ofsted inspection (December 2018) judged three criteria as ‘Good’ – effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment and personal development, behaviour and welfare. Inspectors highlighted the vastly improved leadership and high ambitions which has helped to improve the quality of teaching and pupils’ behaviour.
