We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Year who will share our determination to transform the life chances of our students. We are looking for a highly effective colleague who works hard and has high standards.

Breckland was praised by Ofsted during its Good inspection in November 2022, “Pupils’ opinions and concerns are taken seriously. Pupils are polite and considerate to others. Poor behaviour is not a concern for pupils. Staff deal with behaviour consistently well. Lessons are calm and rarely disrupted. Pupils focus on their learning. They want to do well.”

The successful candidate will work alongside and support the student support team to promote and improve student behaviour, attendance and welfare. Our Heads of Year are also Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. Breckland School is a good and improving school well regarded by the local community with whom it works closely. Staff enjoy working here and our students are well behaved and keen to learn.

Why do you want to be a Head of Year at Breckland School? The answer is a simple one, this is an exciting opportunity to join our school following its “Good” Ofsted inspection in November 2022, to help achieve ‘excellence’ in all we do, and this includes our people.

We will offer:

· Job satisfaction through making a positive impact on our student’s lives

· Friendly and supportive working environment

· Supportive and positive management

· Investment in your training and development

· Excellent career development opportunities in our school and across the trust

· Wellbeing support service and staff wellbeing day

· Trust wide professional development and wellbeing day for all staff

You will work as part of an experienced and friendly team who collaborate and work together. It is important to belong at work and the work you do is relied upon by our students, so even small positive differences which are made, make people very happy. We want to ensure you have a good work life balance and one of the ways we achieve this is by having a two-week autumn half term.

You can view a full list of requirements and further information about the school and Trust in the candidate pack. If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all the requirements, please apply as we may be able to support you in any areas for development or we may have alternative roles that are a good fit for you. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
