Head of Year job summary

This role is ideal for leaders passionate about setting high expectations and those with a belief that every child can succeed, getting the very best out of their secondary education. Our pastoral team plan collaboratively to develop students’ self-discipline, embed our values and key character traits and build their understanding of their place in the world around them. Our pastoral care and support ensures students are happy and can thrive in secondary school. We offer a range of enrichment opportunities beyond the academic curriculum for our students, including trips abroad, rewards to motivate excellence in learning, strong attendance and to build a sense of community in each year group. If this sounds like the approach you believe in, we are the right school for you!

Who are we looking for?

Across school life, we embed high aspirations and a growth mindset in all of our children. We believe that every single child who joins us has the potential to be knowledgeable, articulate and successful. It’s important this resonates with all candidates. We are looking for someone who can embody our values of Unity Respect Excellence and motivate young people to take an active part in school life. Equally important is subject expertise, which is critical to support strong curriculum planning and implementation. We are open to all subject disciplines for this Head of Year role.

The successful candidate will take on the role Head of Year, as well as teaching a subject across the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the provision of a rich learning experience for students who aspires to become an Assistant Headteacher in the next 3 to 5 years.

Should you wish to be part of our future, we welcome your application.

We believe our best resources are our teachers and we are committed to the professional learning and career development of our staff and work in conjunction with external providers as well as a fantastic professional development team in school.

The school also offers excellent promotion prospects and a comprehensive induction programme. Colleagues benefit from a commitment to staff well-being and are provided with several schemes to support them in maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. We have a priority admission policy for children of staff working at the school.

Please read the Head of Year information booklet attached to this document.
