The Role

As a Head of Year, you will:

  • Lead a year group, supporting their academic success, personal development, and well-being.
  • Inspire and manage a team of Form Tutors.
  • Monitor and promote high standards of attendance, punctuality, and behaviour.
  • Provide pastoral care, working closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Deliver year group assemblies and contribute to a rich programme of personal development activities.
  • Champion the ethos of the Academy, ensuring every child is supported to reach their potential.

You will be central to creating a positive, aspirational, and nurturing environment where all students can flourish.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Is supportive of the ethos and values of Thornhill Academy and Consilium Academies.
  • Has experience of working with young people and families, and ideally of delivering assemblies and working with external agencies.
  • Can inspire young people to achieve their best through encouragement, support, and high expectations.
  • Has strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.

A clean driving licence is essential, and safeguarding knowledge is critical.

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above including English and Maths.
  • Educated to degree level is desirable but not essential.
