The Role
As a Head of Year, you will:
- Lead a year group, supporting their academic success, personal development, and well-being.
- Inspire and manage a team of Form Tutors.
- Monitor and promote high standards of attendance, punctuality, and behaviour.
- Provide pastoral care, working closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies.
- Deliver year group assemblies and contribute to a rich programme of personal development activities.
- Champion the ethos of the Academy, ensuring every child is supported to reach their potential.
You will be central to creating a positive, aspirational, and nurturing environment where all students can flourish.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an individual who:
- Has excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- Is supportive of the ethos and values of Thornhill Academy and Consilium Academies.
- Has experience of working with young people and families, and ideally of delivering assemblies and working with external agencies.
- Can inspire young people to achieve their best through encouragement, support, and high expectations.
- Has strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
A clean driving licence is essential, and safeguarding knowledge is critical.
Qualifications:
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above including English and Maths.
- Educated to degree level is desirable but not essential.
