What skills and experience we're looking for

Kingsmead School is seeking to appoint a permanent Head of Year to join our school community from September 2024.To maintain the strong links created with families, Year leaders stay with their groups as they travel up the school (through years 7-11). We would particularly welcome applications from specialists with a background in Science and Maths, but please do not be put off applying if you are able to offer expertise in other areas as all applications will be considered equally to ensure the best candidate is appointed to this important role.

We are looking for a positive, energised and creative individual that will lead by example and help to challenge ourstudents to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a track record of excellent outcomes
  • Have up-to-date curriculum knowledge and be outward facing
  • Be a passionate and innovative advocate for their subject area
  • Be totally committed to improving the life chances of young people
  • Be team oriented and enjoy working collaboratively

You will join a strong pastoral team who are passionate and dedicated, and driven by a common purpose to serve our young people. This is a key role at Kingsmead and you will be well supported by the linked Assistant Headteacher for your year group (Formative - Y7, Lower School - Y8-9, Upper School - Y10-11)
