Head of Year job summary

Head of Year

From: August 2026

Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR2a (£8,230)

Rawlins is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Head of Year to join our fantastic team and flourishing school. Our ideal candidate will have a love for young people and a desire to ensure that all our pupils thrive.

The Care, Guidance & Welfare (CGW) Department is a vibrant mix of experienced and new teachers and non-teaching support staff. We have excellent support packages and a collaborative approach to working so the team regularly share their expertise which will contribute to your own personal development. This combination of teamwork, an outward looking approach and a willingness to reflect internally upon best practice, has resulted in the CGW team being recognised as fully inclusive by a number of external agencies. All staff are encouraged to participate fully within the Department, contributing their ideas in order to ensure we continue to move forward.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Leicestershire’s largest secondary schools, with over 1500 on roll including more than 300 in our A-Level specific Sixth Form. We are a highly inclusive school having our own Autism and a Moderate Learning Difficulties specialist unit on site alongside our school’s SEND support base. Pupils who attend these units are an integrated part of our school community.

There is a strong sense of community in the school, the village of Quorn and the surrounding areas with a committed and aspirational parent support base. Teamwork and making the most of every opportunity is a key feature of school life. We aim to inspire our pupils to find their talents and their passions through a broad and balanced curriculum; to be curious about learning; to relish a challenge and to have both confidence and resilience. Applications are therefore welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.

Our core purpose in helping students and staff to flourish is summed up in our vision and values:

Act wisely and make the most of every opportunity - Colossians 4:5
