What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and passionate Head of Year, to join our team. This is a one year fixed term contract for maternity cover.

You will be working in a very cohesive and supportive department and pastoral team, committed to providing an outstanding education for all our pupils. The ability to teach PE and or Science is preferred.

As Head of Year you will monitor and support the academic progress of students in a defined year group of the school and support their welfare and conduct, including promoting the highest levels of attendance and punctuality.

The Head of Year will also lead a team of tutors in implementing and maintaining a system of academic monitoring, as well as monitoring the behaviour of students in the year group. As Head of Year you will have a reduced teaching timetable.

The successful candidate will: -

  • show a passion for teaching with excellent knowledge within their subject area.
  • be an excellent classroom practitioner, who is experienced in teaching at least key stages 3 and 4
  • have success in achieving consistently good results in their subject, at least, at key stage 3 and key stage 4.
  • be committed to providing pastoral support that leads to exceptional outcomes for students
  • be able to inspire and motivate staff and students
