What skills and experience we're looking for
An inspirational, committed Headteacher is required to provide the professional leadership and management to a well-established and competent staff team, driving forward the School Development Plan to ensure the school’s continuing development, growth, and success. Taking account of the needs of the local community, the Headteacher will ensure the delivery of a high-quality all-round education and personalised learning for all pupils.
The new Headteacher should:
- Be an existing Headteacher, Deputy Head or Assistant Headteacher in a Primary School
- Demonstrate evidence of successful strategic leadership
- Have a working knowledge of all 3 stages of primary education – EYFS, KS1 and KS2
- Have an appreciation of the challenges of providing an all-round education to a community with significant social/economic issues
- Have experience of raising educational standards
- Have a commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children
- Be able to forge effective relationships with parents/carers, Governors, the Local Authority, and the local community

Hurdsfield Primary and Nursery School is maintained by Cheshire East Council. The Group 2 school, with 166 pupils on roll, provides Primary and Nursery education to the Hurdsfield area of Macclesfield. A single class entry school proud of living up to its ethos “A brilliantly happy school where only our best will do”, we have made massive improvements in recent years to become a very popular and successful school, achieving a “Good” OFSTED rating in the summer.
