What skills and experience we're looking for
Due to the retirement of our longstanding Headteacher, the governors seek to appoint a talented and exceptional individual who can lead our school into the future.
This is the start of a new era for the school, and you will be pivotal in our path to continuous improvement and outcomes, as we continue to drive a strong education for our children.
Blakesley Hall Primary School is a thriving, inclusive primary school in east Birmingham, with two forms of entry in Reception and Key stage 1 and three forms of entry in Key Stage 2.
Informal and exploratory conversations and School visits Informal and exploratory conversations are welcomed and encouraged.
Please contact James Hill at jhill@drbignitemat.org to discuss this post in confidence and arrange a school visit. We actively encourage all candidates to visit the school prior to interview.
Please note that all visits will be informal; they will not be part of the selection process and will not have any bearing on our shortlisting, interview, selection, and recruitment process.
What the school offers its staff
Blakesley Hall is a popular school which was founded in 1959 between Richmond Road and Blakesley Road and is bounded by parkland and domestic gardens. In 2008 the school underwent a total rebuild as part of the second phase of the Birmingham Schools PFI Project. It is now a modern three form entry school and caters for over 500 boys and girls aged between 4 and 11 years.
The school has 21 classrooms and a wide range of modern facilities. There are two large halls which are used for assemblies, physical education and also school lunches. These are cooked in the school’s own kitchen and children have a choice of healthy meals.
Recent changes to the PAN mean that we currently admit 60 pupils in Reception but we have 90 pupils in Years 2 – 6, in addition to a 15 place Resource Base. Each Reception class has a qualified teaching assistant who works closely with the class teacher. Blakesley Hall Primary School is a community of learners.
Our mission is to enable every child to be: safe, secure and successful:
- Safe: We take all reasonable steps to ensure the physical safety of all members of the school community.
- Secure: Our curriculum and our pastoral support programme are designed to make out school an emotionally supportive environment for all.
- Successful: We work together so that all members of the school community can achieve their individual academic potential.
