What skills and experience we're looking for

  • A driven, experienced leader who can work as part of our close knit team but also independently when required.

  • A leader who can build relationships with staff, governors and within the wider local community.

  • Experience of early years teaching and learning, including 2 year olds.

  • Experience, or an awareness of, the challenges that mixed age classes, and small mixed year groups teaching can bring.

  • Someone who is as capable of inspiring all children in the classroom as they are at managing a budget and strategically steering the school forward.

  • A leader who is skilled in monitoring and evaluating standards of attainment, learning and teaching and is able to create clear and robust action plans to ensure that all children reach their highest potential, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

  • Someone with a passion for learning in the outdoors and embraces it as a significant part of the whole school curriculum.

Further details about the role

We are looking to appoint a teaching headteacher at Branton Community Primary School and Breamish Valley Community Nursery (minimum of 0.72 teaching commitment with flexibility according to the needs of the school), to lead and further develop the school in the current educational climate, including possible changes to the status of the school.

We are looking for an exemplary classroom practitioner, someone who can lead, motivate and inspire our dedicated staff team. We need a strong team player who will challenge and encourage, and expect to be challenged and supported by governors. Your high expectations should be clearly understood and consistently implemented, with a keen focus on the quality of relationships and excellence in the classroom, in our school community which is ambitious to grow.
