Inspire their remarkable with us
Inspirational leadership is a remarkable thing, and that is exactly what we need here at Broadlands. There are a number of strengths to build on at the Academy, but we also need to raise standards and improve the quality of provision rapidly. You will be a key driver for that. Broadlands is a small, mixed and fully inclusive comprehensive school. We are situated in extensive grounds and ideally located between Bath and Bristol.
We offer a unique provision which includes a Nursery, Hospital Education and primary PRU facility. Broadlands is a school rooted in the local community and is on a journey of school improvement.
Of course you won’t be expected to do it all on your own, but your drive and determination, and experience of managing change, will enable you to set a very clear vision for our future – one that maintains our community ethos whilst driving rapid improvement and raising academic standards.
Within this role, you must be ambitious and able to:
Provide dynamic and effective leadership, while also securing high standards and ongoing rapid improvement
Promote good and outstanding teaching that secures progress over time and enables students to achieve strong outcomes
Develop leadership across all levels
Be brave, discover what’s possible, push the limits and be big-hearted
Commit to each and every child being inspired to have a remarkable life.

At Lift Broadlands, our vision is to inspire our young people to set themselves aspirational goals based on their unique skills, talents and dreams.
As a small 11-16 secondary school that has been serving its local community since 1935, we cultivate a ‘family feel’ and sense of belonging among our students, and believe that nurture is essential for academic, personal and social success. We are an inclusive community which welcomes and celebrates students of all backgrounds and starting points, and which promotes diversity and fairness.
As well as cherishing and supporting our students, we believe in challenging them to achieve excellence in everything that they do. We have the highest of expectations of behaviour, and pledge that every classroom in our school will be a disruption-free learning environment. Similarly, we have aspirational academic goals for every student, and do not believe in placing a ceiling on what any young person can achieve. For this reason, our classes in Years 7, 8 and 9 are taught in mixed performance groupings, and we aim to challenge every student in every lesson. Where students need additional or different tools to reach our aspirational aims, these are provided by our expert teachers, who benefit from the guidance of our excellent SEN and pastoral teams. We are thrilled to be graded 'Good' across the board from our latest Ofsted inspection in 2023.
At Broadlands, we recognise the importance of building young people’s character as well as their academic success. We run a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs, and aim to enhance and deepen our students’ learning experiences with educational and cultural visits where possible. Our excellent Careers advice and strong links with employers and post-16 providers mean that we are able to prepare our students fully for their chosen pathways.
