Clapgate Primary is a highly successful and popular school situated in Belle Isle in the south of the city. The school is two form entry. Most children start school with us in our Nursery and remain with us until they are 11.

Clapgate Primary has close links with other neighbouring schools and is in the JESS cluster. It is also part of the Red Kite Teaching Alliance.

The school occupies a large site with extensive playing fields, playgrounds, an orchard and allotments.

At Clapgate we place a huge emphasis on pupil achievement and adopt a creative approach to teaching and learning. We are committed to inclusion and equality of opportunity.

Clapgate Primary prides itself on the positive attitude held by all who work at the school. The children are friendly, polite and welcoming. There is very good behaviour throughout the school.

Our recent Ofsted report (March 2019) made the following comments:
“There is a high degree of consistency in the quality of teaching, and a culture of high expectations pervades the school.”
“As a result of teachers’ lively presentation and delivery of learning, pupils’ attitudes towards their learning are terrific.”
“Pupils experience a broad and exciting curriculum at Clapgate Primary.”
“The teaching of English and mathematics is very effective.”
“Pupils spoke enthusiastically about their school, saying that teachers ‘make learning fun.’’

In 2018 Clapgate was ranked 13th out of 262 Leeds schools for its overall performance.

We wish to appoint dedicated staff with positive attitudes who will continue to maintain these high standards.
