Headteacher job summary

Have you ever led a school where kindness, respect and shared values are not simply spoken about - in every interaction, every classroom, and every decision? Where children greet you with curiosity, staff greet you with trust, and families greet you as true partners? At Fairfield Park Lower School, belonging isn’t a statement on a wall; it is the foundation that has shaped nearly 20 years of success, growth and continuous improvement.

You will join a school that has already achieved so much - from exceptional pastoral care and strong outcomes to its reputation as an oversubscribed, community-centred school. What began as a single small site in 2007 is now a thriving two-campus school, each with modern facilities, thoughtful design and learning environments that celebrate children’s achievements. Our Dickens Boulevard and Ruskin Drive sites operate as one cohesive school, connected by shared values, consistent systems and an unwavering commitment to parity across both campuses.

You will inherit strong, well-embedded structures, established roles and routines, and a highly reflective team who embrace coaching, continuous CPD and evidence-informed practice. Our proactive governing body, engaged parent community and dedicated PTA create an environment where leaders feel supported, trusted and able to think with ambition.

As Headteacher, you will lead our three-form-entry school (Nursery to Year 4) building on the robust foundations already in place while guiding the next phase of development. You will bring cohesion across two sites through clear communication, visible leadership and relational practice that supports staff wellbeing and models the warmth we expect for children.

You will champion our bespoke curriculum, shaped by three Golden Threads - Diversity, the Environment and the Arts - and ensure it continues to evolve in ways that inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. With confidence navigating the operational and strategic demands of a growing school, you’ll bring clarity, calm and purpose to a community that is ready for its next chapter.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a school where curiosity and community are already deeply rooted - and where your leadership can help those roots grow even stronger. At Fairfield Park Lower School, you will make a meaningful difference and flourish both professionally and personally.
